Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE)

FIRE is a nonprofit educational foundation devoted to free speech, individual liberty, religious freedom, the rights of conscience, legal equality, due process, and academic freedom on our nation's campuses. Founded in 1999 by University of Pennsylvania Professor Alan Charles Kors, his friend Harvey Silverglate, and IHS alumnus Thor Halvorssen, the Philadelphia-based organization defends students and faculty from arbitrary campus-based judicial systems, political correctness, and other abuses of individual rights on America's campuses. They have several publications, including their Guides to Student Rights on Campus.
