The Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care (MCCC) has internship availabilities for the fall semester. This is an unpaid, part-time internship, with class credit available. Interns work 10-20 hours per week and have the chance to play a vital role in a major statewide campaign. MCCC is a grassroots organization devoted to passing a medical marijuana initiative in Michigan in November 2008.
MCCC intern responsibilities include:
- Voter outreach, including voter registration, campus organizing, and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts;
- Assisting with lawn sign distribution and maintenance;
- Monitoring news outlets for relevant articles and other coverage;
- Assisting with maintenance of online social networking sites; and
- Miscellaneous projects and research as assigned.
Candidates should expect a fast-paced, professional environment, have excellent oral and written communications skills and strong internet research skills, and be meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about electoral politics, excellent interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to work independently.
