***A conference presented by the Journal of School Choice and The National Institute for Educational Options of Nova Southeastern University’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education***

The Journal of School Choice (JSC) which is seven years old, publishes peer-reviewed original empirical research, scholarly commentary, book reviews, and short non-refereed ‘News’ and ‘Views’ articles focused on impacting school choice and reform research agendas. The JSC aims to be the ‘peak journal’ of school reform scholars, K-12 policymakers, and reform advocates.

The Journal (JCS) is the only peer-reviewed academic journal focusing just on school choice and reform research, not rhetoric. The first-rate scholars who serve on the editorial board include Charles Glenn, Mark Holmes, Frederick Hess, Patrick Wolf, Bruce Cooper, Al Ramirez, and Robert Maranto. To address the urgent need for compelling answers to critical unasked and unanswered questions, the conference will present the latest empirical findings, and we will explore the newest questions through focused panel discussions of controversial policy ideas, and through “open mike” sessions for the presentation of provocative ideas with little current traction. That level of focus is possible only at a meeting with a relatively narrow mandate like this one.

Getting numerous education system reform scholars together each year can better focus and accelerate their research agendas, bring scholarly neutrality to the discussion, and speed the uptake of their most significant findings.
