The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for school choice, today announced that the organization’s fourth annual National Policy Summit—the nation’s largest yearly gathering of bipartisan school choice policymakers, advocates, and experts—will be held Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Gaylord National Resort in Washington, D.C.

The annual Summit has for the past three years brought together a diverse group of elected officials, business and policy leaders, philanthropists, and media commentators to discuss the importance of giving parents all over the country access to high-quality educational options.

Previous speakers include New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, as well as renowned journalist and political commentator Juan Williams, CNN political commentator Roland Martin, and former D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, among many others.

“We are looking forward to once again hosting this annual gathering to showcase the success of school choice across the country and to discuss the ongoing challenges to ensuring that every child has access to a great education, ,” said Betsy DeVos, Chairman of the American Federation for Children. “Every year we welcome leaders from across the political spectrum who are committed to putting children first and empowering parents with educational options, and we expect our 2013 Summit to be even better than the past three.”

In addition to an exciting slate of speakers, panelists, and guests to be announced, the 2013 Summit will also award the annual John T. Walton Champion for School Choice award to a prominent leader in the school choice movement. The 2012 winner was Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett.

The 2012 National Policy Summit, held earlier this past May in Jersey City, New Jersey, welcomed over 300 attendees from across the nation and received extensive national and local media coverage from outlets including the Associated Press, NBC News, ABC News, Fox Business, Bloomberg News, Yahoo! News, and more.

Early registration for the 2013 Summit is now open and interested individuals can find out more information at the Federation’s newly-revamped Summit website at www.AFCPolicySummit.com.
