Court orders website to be taken down

2/20/2008

A California court has ordered the controversial whistle-blower site Wikileaks.org to be taken down after a lawsuit from a Swiss banking group.

Wikileaks allowed users to anonymously post government and corporate documents. The BBC reports here on the new court ruling.

The site has been controversial since its launch in 2006; some see it as way to promote transparency and accountabilty, while other observers have questioned the motives of the people behind Wikileaks.
